Republican presidential nominee and former president Donald Trump and Democratic vice president Kamala Harris will debate on ABC on Sept. 10, setting up the first head-to-head matchup.
“ABC News will host the qualifying presidential candidates to debate on ABC on September 10. Both Vice President Harris and former President Trump have confirmed their participation in the ABC debate,” the network said in a statement Thursday.
So, who will be hosting the presidential race on the big stage next month?
ABC’s David Muir and Lynsey Davis
ABC reports that David Muir and Lynsey Davis will host the Sept. 10 debate. That’s the same date Trump and Joe Biden agreed to for their second and final debate, before the president’s decision to drop out of the race.
Muir is the anchor of “World News Tonight” and has been with ABC since 2003. Known on both sides of the political aisle, he interviewed Biden as part of the D-Day coverage and was Trump’s first White House interview as president in 2017. He is no stranger to debates, having moderated the presidential primary debates in 2016 and 2020.
Davis is an anchor on “ABC News Live Prime” and has been with the network since 2007. He moderated the 2019 and 2020 presidential debates and covered the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention.
Details of venue and rules will be decided closer to the debate date.
