The IDF and COGAT announced in a joint statement Wednesday morning the reopening of Kerem Shalom inside the Gaza Strip.
The army added that trucks containing humanitarian aid, including food, water and medicine, were arriving at the crossing from Egypt. Following inspection by Israeli Defense Ministry officials at the crossing, the aid will be transported to the Palestinian crossing.
The Kerem Shalom crossing was closed due to attacks by Hamas
The Kerem Shalom crossing was closed earlier this week following a barrage of Hamas rockets into the area, killing four IDF soldiers and injuring several others to varying degrees.
The IDF statement also clarified that although the Kerem Shalom crossing was closed, the Erez crossing remained open for aid deliveries and was later moved to the Strip.
