Ex The Mandalorian Vet Gina Carano penned a warm, lengthy tribute to her Disney+ colleague Star Wars Series co-star, Carl Weathers on Instagram. The actor passed away today at the age of 76.

“He was gentle and encouraging, never wanting me to give up, letting me know he wasn't giving up on me, trying to keep my hope alive in a very hopeless situation, he showed me. He cared. That's just the way he was.”
“I bonded so closely with him on Mando Seasons 1&2,” Carano writes, “Jon Favreau felt he would be a good mentor for me because we shared the athlete-turned-actor bond, so Jon directed my first episode on Mando Season 2. .”
“I'm sure Carl would have directed me a lot more if we'd gotten to the Rangers of the New Republic. John F. was right, we were a great fit.
“Carl was a mentor to me on set, he would put his hands on my shoulders and look me directly in the eyes to calm my mind,” she explained on IG, “He had an amazing perspective of telling a story. His experience he shared with me helped me shine. And come through wisdom. I cherish those moments.”
