In her memoir, Spears described the unplanned pregnancy as a “surprise.”
She wrote: “To me, it's not a tragedy. But Justin was definitely not happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren't ready to have a baby in our lives, we were too young.
“If it was left up to me, I never would have done it.”
She also described the abortion as “one of the most painful things I've ever experienced in my life.”
Timberlake's response sparked backlash on social media from many Spears fans, some of whom tried to get the hashtag “#canceljustintimberlake” trending.
