The first Android 15 preview is coming this week

According to the public-facing concept, Google is set to launch the first preview of Android 15 this weekend.

A Comment published On Tuesday morning, a Google developer told the Android Open Source Project that the first preview of Android 15 is “scheduled” for this Thursday, February 15, 2024. The developer is calling it “Android V”, which refers to the internal sweets of the release. Codename, “Vanilla Ice Cream.”

Does it make sense to wait until Android V is available? Its first developer preview is scheduled for February 15

If time permits, the first Android 15 developer preview will arrive a week after the launch of Android 14 QPR3 beta 1. Somewhat notably, the first preview of Android 15 comes later than last year's preview, which was released on February 8, 2023. However, in comparison, the second quarter update of Android 13 was still being tested at that time.

As in past years, it's safe to assume that only Pixel devices will qualify for the Android 15 Developer Preview. Those who signed up for beta updates will remain on Android 14 for now, as “developer preview” releases are generally less stable and not ready for general use.

This Android 15 developer preview should give us our first solid look at what to expect from next year's release of Google's mobile OS. We've had a few hints over the past year in the form of features the APK Insights team has discovered/enabled that Google hasn't even launched yet. Chief among these is the “Private Space” feature, which allows you to hide and lock certain apps that appear in your app list.
