Christopher Nolan knows about the latter. When Nolan accepted the award for best director from the New York Film Critics Circle on Wednesday night, Nolan revealed a particularly broad side that was unexpected.

“I was doing a lot of interval training in my Peloton. I was dying,” Nolan recalled in his acceptance speech. “The instructor started talking about one of my movies (and later discovered Dennett) and, 'Has anyone else seen this? Because those were two hours of my life that I will never get back.

“When [film critic] Rex Reed in your movie, he doesn't tell you to work out!” Nolan joked. “In today's world, there are opinions everywhere, and there's a sense that film criticism is being democratized. But I, in a sense, believe that critical appreciation of films should not be an instinct but a profession.

Footage of Nolan's speech was captured by critic Matt Neglia, who posted it on social media. This led 404 Media reporter Samantha Cole to find a clip of Peloton attacking instructor Jenn Sherman.

“This song is from the soundtrack of a movie Dennett“Sherman said in the clip. “Does anyone see this? Does anyone else see this? Because I need a manual. Someone needs to explain this. Yeah, I'm not kidding, what's going on in that movie? Do you understand? Seriously, you have to be a neurologist to understand. That's two and a half hours of my life I want back.
