Richmond, Va. (WRIC) – To commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence 200 years ago, Sheetz announced that for one day only, it will cut gas prices to $1.776 – nearly half the national average. .
The limited-time Sheetz promotion starts just after midnight on July 4th at 12:01am. The deal lasts all day — or until you run out of gas.
From July 3, AAA said The average gas price in Virginia is $3.307 and the national average is $3.535. The highest Virginia gas price was reported at $3.585 in Fairfax and the lowest in the state was $2.967.
Although higher than the average person is willing to pay, the average Virginia gas price is slowly decreasing:
- Average on July 3, 2023: $3.307
- Week Ahead Average: $3.325
- Average for previous month: $3.324
- Year-to-date Average: $4.615
Discount applies to regular, E85 (flex fuel), unleaded 88, mid-grade and premium fuel grades at all Sheetz locations in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Diesel and ethanol free (E0) are not included in the price drop.
If you go to the store to find the wrong price on the billboard, don’t fret, says a spokesperson for Sheetz.
“Gas will be $1.776/gallon,” the spokesperson confirmed. “The gas price display photos show it as $1.779/gallon because Sheetz couldn’t change the last digit (9) in its display marks.”
